The R & D is focused on development of an environmentally sustainable mobile and modular oil contaminated solids treatment process. The research is exploring the possibility of utilising a combination of physical, chemical, biological and thermal treatment technologies to achieve the aim of treating hazardous oil contaminated solids to non-hazardous or inert waste.
Research is underway in the areas of:
Utilising enzymes for reduction of hydrocarbons in soil
Biological treatment for reduction of hydrocarbons in soil
Combination of oxidants and solvents for the removal of hydrocarbons in soil
Thermal treatment options
UV and catalyst based waste water polishing system
Sureclean is working with a university spin out firm to develop a modular and mobile unit for polishing dissolved organics in wastewater and for disinfection in raw water. This innovative concept utilises catalysts to speed up the reaction and to deliver better efficiencies.
The first commercial plant is currently being developed.
