A West Lothian skip hire company was fined £2500 for illegally dumping waste such as cooking oil drums, wood, bricks and concrete slabs.

Ace Skip Hire (Scotland) Ltd pled guilty to depositing the waste in or on land at Unit 10a, Mosshall, Industrial Estate, Blackburn, on 23 August 2004 when they appeared at

Livingston Sheriff Court
on Friday 9 December.

The offences came to light after an inspection by environment watchdog the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA.) Officers witnessed waste operations being carried out on the site, without a waste management licence and a report was sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Investigating officer Fraser Gordon said: “There is legislation in place for the disposal of waste which prohibits such unauthorised activities. The company has gained substantial financial benefit from not complying with the law. SEPA will continue to take all enforcement action within our powers against   people who demonstrate such blatant disregard of the law
